Some encounters happen at an exhibition;
Some become a true beginning.
At the recently concluded Guangzhou Design Week 2025, JNJ Mosaic presented the theme “CATch the Mosaic”, showcasing a series of new mosaic art creations. Designers, artists, and industry partners from all over the world joined us for an in-depth conversation about materials, design, and the future.
This was not only an exhibition.
It was a dialogue, a connection—
And a global exploration.

- From “Seeing” to “Understanding” — A Different Expression of Mosaic
This year, JNJ Mosaic introduced works inspired by anthropomorphic animals, botanical forms, and artistic mosaic collage, challenging the long-held perception that mosaic belongs only to functional spaces.
At our booth:
Some paused to study the textures up close.
Some touched the surfaces to feel the material.
Some photographed, discussed, debated—and looked back again.
We hoped to convey a simple belief:
Mosaic is not just a material. It is a design language capable of carrying emotion, narrative, and artistic expression.

- Here, Mosaic Design Expands into New Possibilities
Our booth became a living studio of ongoing conversations.
Designers gathered around the artworks, exploring pattern structures,
experimenting with the plasticity of craftsmanship,
and observing how colors shift under changing light.

Some asked: “What if this artwork didn’t stay on the wall, but entered a space?”
Some discussed commercial applications,
some talked about artistic direction,
others pushed the boundaries of material and space.
We talked about materials, but also creation.
About markets, but also ideals.
One sentence surfaced repeatedly:
“Mosaic is actually very free—we just used it too conservatively in the past.”
And that is exactly what we are working toward— bringing mosaic back to where it belongs: a language of design, not just a building finish.
Across discussions on animal figures, botanical motifs, public installations, and artistic expression, many new ideas began to take shape—born from authentic, unfiltered conversation.
Through these exchanges, we became even more certain:
JNJ Mosaic is not merely offering products; we are exploring new possibilities with designers together.

- From Students to Designers — The Future Is Happening Now
As a co-organizer, JNJ Mosaic participated in the HKDI Student Art Competition, the awarding session, and the global Overseas Resource Exchange.
The students’ works reminded us of the raw vitality of design.
The conversations among designers allowed inspiration to flow freely.
Here,
design is more than creation—
it becomes a passport to the world.
We believe:
Today’s students are tomorrow’s designers on the global stage. Every connection formed today is the beginning of the future.

- A Real “Overseas Exchange” Begins at the Dinner Table
When night fell, the Overseas Exchange Dinner unfolded in a blend of conversation, collaboration, and celebration.

It was not merely a social gathering.
It was a genuine dialogue on:
Cross-cultural creativity,
Cross-market opportunity,
Cross-boundary collaboration.
Ideas were exchanged.
Partnerships were discussed.
Future possibilities were imagined.
In these moments, mosaic was no longer confined to a single space— it began stepping into a larger world.

- CATch the Mosaic — More Than a Theme
Two “long-armed cat” installations welcomed visitors at our booth—
its exaggerated reaching gesture felt like an invitation,
a playful attempt to grab something.
But what is it trying to catch?
Inspiration. Design. Change. And the future arriving right now.
“CATch the Mosaic” is not just a booth theme—
It is JNJ Mosaic’s way of embracing the future.

- We Are on the Way — And We Invite You to Join Us
Since 1992, JNJ Mosaic has believed in one thing:
Design is not the destination— Connection is.
This year at Guangzhou Design Week, we completed a meaningful gathering.
Next, we will continue bringing Chinese mosaic design
toward a broader international stage.
The future may be far,
but we are already on the road.

CATch the Mosaic. CATch the Future.
Thank you to every designer, partner, and friend who visited us.
Until the next encounter, let’s keep exploring how design can connect us to the world.
